Artist & Exhibitor Classification Policy

Last updated on Jul 22, 2025

✅ 1. ARTIST Definition

You qualify as an Artist if:

  • You create original, handcrafted work (e.g., paintings, sculptures, fine art prints, ceramics, art photography).

  • Functional items (e.g., apparel, jewelry, home goods) must be:

    • Designed AND made by you (not mass-produced but offering limited quantities).

    • Driven by artistic intent (e.g., conceptual themes, unique techniques, limited edition units).

    • Primary focus is artistic expression, not utility. If the product is used as a utility, the focus is not solely considered artwork admiration.

  • NO mass factory-produced items, or third-party designs
    EXCEPTION:
Stickers and keychains are permitted ONLY if:
➤ They feature your own original artwork (not licensed/third-party designs)
➤ Are supplemental/secondary to your primary artistic offerings
Do not exceed 40% of your displayed inventory

📦 2. EXHIBITOR/VENDOR Definition

You are an Exhibitor/Vendor if:

  • You sell commercial, mass-produced items (e.g., branded apparel, supplements, food, or products made by others).

  • Your goods prioritize utility, or resale over original artistry.

  • You use third-party manufacturing focusing on mass production (even for original designs).

  • Utility such as Mugs or merchandise are your primary/ancillary products.

⚠️ 3. Key Determination Factors

  • Clothing/Apparel: Automatically classifies as Exhibitor UNLESS:

    • It’s hand-printed/painted/dyed by you in limited runs.

    • You provide an artist statement + process documentation.

  • Stickers/Merch: If sold alongside functional/utility items → Exhibitor.

  • Prints: Only qualifies as "Artist" if original/limited-edition (not commercial posters).

⚖️ 4. Enforcement

  • Misclassified applicants will be re-categorized and charged the applicable fee difference.

  • Failure to comply may result in removal from the event without refund.
